BaitingHow Can Pest Terminators Help You Achieve Fly Control?

At Pest Terminators, we utilize both chemical and mechanical methods to manage flies effectively:

  • Chemical Pesticides: We apply long-lasting chemical pesticides that offer residual protection against flies.
  • Baiting: Our bait formulations, which remain active even when wet, are highly effective for outdoor use, helping in the mass extermination of flies.
  • Insect Light Traps (ILTs): To manage indoor fly populations, we install ILTs that use blue and UV light to attract and trap flies.
  • FLY UV LED Insect Light Traps: These traps, marketed by PECOPP, feature durable UV LEDs and consume just 19% of the electricity used by conventional flycatchers with three UV fluorescent tubes.
  • Supplementary Methods: We also use fly glue boards and ribbons to monitor and control fly populations, especially in commercial settings.

How Do Flies Enter Your Home?

Flies can enter through:

  • Unscreended doors or windows
  • Garbage bins

Flies lay eggs on moist surfaces such as cracks, washbasin corners, and sink pipes.

Types of Filth Flies

Filth flies are classified into two main categories based on appearance and food preferences: large and small filth flies.

Large Filth Flies
  • House Fly: Dull grey with four dark stripes on the thorax, these flies lay eggs on animal faeces and garbage. Their larvae, or maggots, hatch and grow to about half an inch before pupating into adults.
  • Blow Flies: Shiny blue or green, these flies make a distinctive buzzing sound. Their larvae develop in dead animals.
  • Flesh Flies: Larger than house flies, these dark-coloured flies have a checkerboard pattern on their abdomen and lay eggs in carrion
  • Stable Fly: Known for their painful bites, these flies feed on animal and human blood but do not transmit diseases.
Small Filth Flies
  • Fruit Flies (Drosophila spp.): Often found around rotting fruits, these small flies lay eggs in moist organic materials.
  • Phorid Flies (Phoridae spp.): Tiny, dark-coloured flies with an arched thorax. Their larvae feed on decomposing plant or animal matter.
  • Drain Flies: Small, ash-coloured flies common near drains. Their larvae thrive in gelatinous muck in drains.
Why Are Flies Dangerous?

Flies are indicators of unsanitary conditions and can transmit diseases like diarrhoea, cholera, and dysentery. Their spongy mouthparts collect and spread germs from dirty surfaces to your food. House flies, in particular, regurgitate their stomach contents onto food to liquefy it before ingestion, leading to contamination. Additionally, flies can defecate on food and surfaces, spreading disease-causing pathogens wherever they land.
